Money Saving Hints

Always take advantage of the lowest postal rates possible. If timing is not essential, send your mail pieces "standard (formerly BULK) rate."

To clean up your mailing list and get free address corrections for First Class mail, print the following endorsement beneath either the return address or Permit/Indicia:
                            RETURN SERVICE REQUESTED

There is no standard rate "POSTCARD." Any letter size standard mail piece goes at the same letter rate. If you're sending a 4" x 6" card, it may be cheaper to send it first class.

If you normally mail a flat piece, consider folding it to get letter rates. Compare the folding costs to the potential postal savings

Do not design a postcard divided vertically, there is not enough room for addressing. A blank space is required 4" wide x 2" high in the lower right corner for address & barcode information

For letter size mailers, please try not to use stapled bindings. The Post Office now requires three 1.5" wafers for closure. Affixing them is costly. Have your pages nested but not stapled to save money.

When designing a folded mailer, always start with placing the postal permit in the upper right corner. That way there is no possible chance the piece will be folded incorrectly

Save money on a postal indicia, you may use Compu-Mail's permit at no charge. To help you design an automation compatible mailer, ask for our complimentary USPS Certified Postal Template
